ORYA High School Soccer - New Thursday Night Soccer Club!

Sep 5, 2018 2:21 AM

The ORYA Soccer Program is excited to announce a new format to our High School Coed league which is focused on the needs of these older players -The Thursday Night Soccer Club!  Our four High School teams will be meeting together weekly on Thursday nights between 7PM and 9PM at Oak Ridge Town Park Field 1 to play weekly friendly scrimmages.  This replaces typical weekly practices.  All players who participate will be broken into balanced teams each week, with the scrimmages being officiated by a single referee.  To make this even more appealing to our players the coaches will keep track of which players win their scrimmages each week.   The top five point earners at the end of the season will receive a trophy and a $25 gift card!  Continue reading for more details on this awesome new program.

Thursday Night Soccer Club

Play
Thursday nights at ORTP Field 1 between 7 PM and 9 PM.

Two games: 25 minute halves.  Players wear shin guards.
Coaches select the teams by alternately choosing three players each and then the remaining players are randomly selected for each game.

Participant Scoring
Players receive one point for winning a half.  Zero for a tie or loss.
Example: If a team wins the first half 2-0 and then the game finishes at 2-0, all the players on the winning team receive one point.  The losing team players receive zero points.

Trophies
Boy and Girl TNSC Champion  – players with the most points.
TNSC All-ORYA – Next three kids with the most points.

Accessibility
Open to all ORYA High School Coed Division regular season players.

Requirements
None.  If a player does not come to the Thursday games they receive zero points.  This is a volunteer activity just like practice.  Players can play in as many or as few games as they desire.  The more they play in, though, the higher the likelihood of winning a trophy, gift card and supreme bragging rights.

Record keeping
We will distribute a spreadsheet each week with the standings.

This group of volunteer coaches did an amazing job thinking outside the box and collaborating to enhance the program.  Their dedication to these kids is impressive.
