Oak Ridge Football 2018
It seems like just a few weeks ago we were finishing up playoffs, but the time has come to look at the next season ahead. We are already gearing up for a new football season and starting signups early this year. Personally, I want to thank every one involved in our organization, from coaches to parents, for a successful inaugural season in the PYFCL. For the first time since I have been with the program, every team had a winning record from every age group, despite an increased level of competition. This rests on the shoulders of our players, and ultimately the coaches who brought these kids a winning tradition.
Starting signups in March is a new idea for us here in Oak Ridge, but there is good reason for it. With anticipation of increased numbers this year from interested parents reaching out, we wanted to get a head start in case our equipment demands grow. This year is all about growth, and with our successful fundraising efforts lately, we are able to offer football at only $75 dollars this year and FREE flag football. As our program continues to grow and our fundraising efforts prove more successful, we hope to continue to offer the most cost effective sport in the Northwest Guilford area.
As we continue to grow, our football league has also grown this year. We now have fourteen teams that are members and we look forward to having a lot of competition across the board this year. In fact, especially at our Mitey-mite age division and lower, we will not even get the opportunity to play every team. As a voting member now, and a seat on the scheduling committee, we will ensure that we set our kids up for a competitive, yet fair schedule. You can find any information about other organizations or the league at www.pyfcl.com .
For those newer parents, or those with new questions, we will list the age divisions and weights below. We plan on fielding Flag, Tiny-Mite, Mitey-Mite, 10u, Jr. Pewee, and 12u this year. Many of our coaches are returning, but we are always looking for qualified individuals to come out and contribute to our organization. A coaches meeting will be held in Mid April to address any questions and begin finalizing our staffs for the upcoming season. As always, we look forward to seeing you out there this year, and please feel free to contact us with any questions.
